Amazon Promise is a U.S.-based, non-profit organization founded to provide
desperately needed medical care to remote populations living in the Upper Amazon
Basin of Northeastern Peru. Our Peruvian operations are headquartered in the
jungle city of Iquitos. We provide medical services and education to residents
of Iquitos and neighboring Belen. Additionally, since 1994 we have conducted
routine, volunteer-based medical outreach, local training and education in 32
remote jungle villages.
A six-member Board of Directors oversees all Amazon Promise operations
in the United States and Peru.

Patty Webster, President
Amazon Promise founder and president Patty Webster has been dedicated to the health
of the Peruvian people for the past 15 years. Patty is the managing field
coordinator for Promise Expeditions. She lives in Iquitos, Peru.

Melonie Rockwell, Director of Medical Operations
Melonie Rockwell has worked as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in
the United States for more than 20 years. She has volunteered with Amazon Promise since
1995. Melonie is a graduate of the Peruvian Air Force Jungle Survival Training
Course. She lives in Olympia, Wash.

Abigail Mithoefer, Vice President
Abigail Mithoefer is a Physician Assistant at Massachusetts General Hospital,
in Boston, Mass. She has been involved with Amazon Promise since 2002 and handles all procurement
duties for Amazon Promise. Abigail is also overseeing plans to construct a much-needed
medical clinic in Belen, Peru.
Abigail will be completing her MPH in International Public Health at Boston University in May 2008.

Jacqueline Carroll, Treasurer
Jackie works as a Nurse Practitioner and Cardiology Clinical
Manager in Newburyport, Mass. She is the Volunteer Coordinator for
Amazon Promise, and has been involved with Promise Expeditions since
1998.

Cheryle Palmer, Secretary
Cheryle Palmer is from Klamath Falls, Oregon. She currently works at
Klamath Open Door, a family practice clinic for the underserved, as a
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She has been involved with medical
care in the Peruvian Amazon since 1998.

Kristina Server, Fundraising and External Affairs
Kristina Server serves as Amazon Promise's Fundraising and External
Affairs Director, overseeing advancement efforts and strategic
planning. She works in the non-profit sector and has a background in
fundraising, public administration, and public health. Kristina has
traveled extensively in Peru and lives in Seattle, Washington.

Dr. Robert Hyzy, Medical Director
Dr. Robert Hyzy is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine in the
Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of
Michigan in Ann Arbor. He is the Medical Director of the Critical Care
Medicine Unit and is an active clinician, teacher and clinical researcher.
Bob works with the University of Michigan Medical School Global Reach
program to organize medical student trips with Amazon Promise.

Dr. Robert Fulton, Director of Dentistry
Dr. Bob Fulton has a full-time practice in Ohio and is a member of the
American Dental Association and the International College of Dentists.
He is the recipient of the American Dental Association’s Meritorious
Service Award for International Dentistry. Dr. Bob undertook his first
Amazon Promise Expedition in 2000. He writes and lectures on his
observations concerning dentistry in the Amazon and Cuba.

Elena Deem, PhD, Director of Educational Programs
Dr. Elena Deem is a trained HIV/AIDS intervention and care provider,
and has extensive experience in teaching and education. She has
designed and developed our HIV prevention campaign, ¡Soy Capaz!,
and oversees other educational programs that Amazon Promise facilitates
for village health care workers, midwives, and the general public.

Javier Villanes Arias, Obst., Vice President - Peru
Obstetrician Javier Villanes Arias has been an intricate member of the
organization since 1997, and runs our Peruvian office. He specializes
in traditional medicine, and is in charge of training local midwives
and village healthcare workers. He's also overseeing planning in Peru
for the construction of the Belen Clinic.

Dr. Juan Carlos Campos
Dr. Campos is a medical advisor to Amazon
Promise, and is a supervisor for the Peruvian Ministry of Health´s
medical insurance for the Loreto region. He also supervises patient
traffic for hundreds of medical posts located in remote areas of the
Amazon

Jose Luis Valles, Translator, Peru
Jose has been working as a translator on Amazon Promise medical expeditions since the organization's inception.
A graduate of the Peruvian Air Force Jungle Survival School, Jose lives with his family in Iquitos, Peru. He's
an avid bird watcher and respected local jungle guide.

Segundo Coloma Cahuaza
Segundo Coloma Cahuaza has been with Amazon Promise since its inception. Segundo is in charge of patient
registration, river transportation, and camping gear. He´s also the organization's boat motorman and jungle hiking
guide. Segundo is from the village of San Jose on the Ucayali River.

Blanca Medianero Burga, Legal Council
Blanca Medianero has been the Legal Council for Amazon Promise since 1996. She specializes in foundations, employment rights,
international commerce, has worked in the public sector for the National Congress Work Committee, and held the position of
General Secretary and Vice-minister for the Ministry of Employment of Peru.

Nicholas Hollings, Webmaster
Nicholas Hollings is an IT Project manager with multi-discipline skills in a large
