Amazon Promise is a U.S. non-profit organization, exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Under state law, which will vary from state to state, and federal law, which may change annually, a large portion, if not all of your trip is tax deductible in the United States. Likewise, monetary donations made in the U.S. are tax deductible.

Amazon Promise takes volunteers into the remote jungle of Peru to give medical care to the local people. Many of our volunteers are doctors, nurses, dentists and medical students. Others have no medical training. They all share our burning need to make a difference. Whichever corner of the world you hail from, whatever your vocation, you can join us.
The Upper Amazon Basin in Peru is one of the most isolated jungle regions in the world. It is here that Amazon Promise has a very special calling, responding to Mestizo and indigenous river communities that request our assistance. Our two-week Promise Expeditions provide desperately needed medicine, education and training. For some people, this is the only health care they ever receive.
Amazon Promise is committed to the Peruvian people. Since 1993, we have conducted more than 500 clinics, bringing aid and hope to some 30,000 patients. We continue to deepen the effectiveness of our medical work with a special emphasis on programs that can be sustained locally in our absence. We are currently working with the local government on plans to construct a medical clinic in the district of Belen, near our Iquitos headquarters.
In return for their hard work and dedication, Amazon Promise volunteers are rewarded with the opportunity to gain invaluable knowledge of local culture and traditions. They may work side by side with a shaman, learning about the medicinal plants and traditional healing practices that have served these communities for hundreds of years.
